Patio Cleaning in Phoenix — Pavers, Concrete, Flagstone

By Aaron Huisman

If you're searching for patio cleaning Phoenix AZ, you've probably looked outside recently and thought, "How did it get this bad?" I get it. I'm Aaron Huisman, owner of Camelback Power Wash, and I've been cleaning patios all across the Valley for years. Phoenix is beautiful, but it is rough on outdoor surfaces.

Why Phoenix Patios Get So Dirty So Fast

Living in Phoenix means dealing with a specific combination of punishment that patios in other cities never face.

Here's what I see constantly:

  • Dust and caliche buildup that settles into every pore and joint
  • Monsoon staining from muddy runoff that dries hard and fast
  • UV bleaching and oxidation that fades the natural color out of pavers and flagstone
  • Algae and mildew that grow in shady spots near pool equipment or under patio covers
  • Heat baking everything in so that by October, what started as a light film has turned into a permanent-looking crust

A quick rinse with a garden hose does almost nothing. You need real pressure, the right detergents, and someone who knows what they're doing with the equipment.

What We Clean and How We Do It

Every surface is different. Here's how I approach each one:

Concrete patios respond well to a hot water surface cleaner. I run consistent pressure across the whole slab so you don't end up with streaks or tiger stripes. Concrete is porous, so pre-treating with a degreaser makes a big difference.

Pavers need a gentler touch. Too much pressure blasts out the polymeric sand in the joints. I adjust the PSI, clean the surface, and if the joints need re-sanding after, I can handle that too.

Flagstone is my favorite to clean. The natural variation in the stone really comes back to life after a good wash. I use a lower-pressure rinse with a surface cleaner to protect the softer stone faces.

After cleaning, I always recommend a sealer application. In Phoenix's UV index, an unsealed patio starts fading again within months.

Pool Decks Deserve Extra Attention

If your patio wraps around a pool, you're dealing with extra challenges. Sunscreen, body oils, calcium deposits from splashing water, and constant foot traffic all combine to make pool decks some of the dirtiest surfaces I clean. Patio cleaning Phoenix AZ homeowners most commonly call me about is pool deck work, and honestly it makes sense. This area gets the most use and the most abuse.

I take extra care around pool equipment, and I never let runoff go into the pool itself.

When Should You Schedule?

Honestly, spring and fall are the best windows. Before summer hits, you want a clean patio. After monsoon season ends, you want to clear out all that red mud and debris.

That said, I clean patios year-round. Even in July. I just start earlier in the morning.

If you're in Phoenix and your patio, pool deck, or flagstone has seen better days, let's fix that.
